The concept of Archetypes was first popularized by the well know psychologist Carl Jung. His extensive work with archetypes and the collective unconscious lead to the development of a whole new branch of psychology called Archetypal Psychology.

Although Jung popularized the concept, the use of archetypes goes back to the beginning of time. Ancient cultures used archetypes and modern day tribal cultures are still very much attuned to the use of archetypes. Mythology is the most common use of the archetypes.

Archetypes, in there essence, are a vibrational pattern. This is why every culture has their own form of each archetype. The essence, the message, the wisdom, is the same but the external aspects such as the name or the physical manifestation changes to suit each individual culture. In this way the archetype could be easily identified and accepted in each culture. An analogy would be words; we can translate them into different languages in order to make them familiar to each culture.

All the archetypes are contained in the collective unconscious. We have the ability to tap into the collective unconscious and learn and use the archetypes. Two common ways that the archetypes are used are in Tarot and Astrology.

The cards of the Major Arcana represent the different archetypes. When we do a reading we use these cards to illuminate which archetypes are vibrating in us at any given moment. Moving on from there we can use the wisdom or the lesson the archetypes has to teach us.

The same is true in astrology. By looking at our natal chart we can see which archetypes are active within us. Because the archetype is an energy pattern they vibrate. Vibration is a precursor to manifestation. Vibration also follows Divine order meaning that the pattern plays out in a very specific way.

The easiest way to learn about archetypes and Divine unfolding is to read mythology. Reading several different mythologies illuminates this point. It becomes obvious how they are all the same in their essence. Every culture has a creation story and in the end it is always the same story over and over again.

Once you know which archetypes are vibrating within you it becomes easier to understand the stories playing out in your life. This clarity and awareness can help you move through you life path with more ease by understanding the natural unfolding.

“The tarot is a set of images, pictures, which illustrate the different stages and levels of the alchemical process and the archetypes. The tarot itself produces a kind of transmutation through experiencing the images. The images themselves are primordial and deeply connected to the collective unconscious. They work like keys unlocking and initiating processes in the unconscious mind. Working with the tarot in anyway will initiate a process whether we are conscious of it or not.”
